‘The food was low-key fantastic, and the service was very courteous unlike some of the other spots I’d been, out this way. Maybe they just had their fill, out here, of tourists. There was overtourism, after all. Wasn’t there Korean on the ferry port signs, when we got to Yawatahama? Yes. There was. What was all this about, then, this… antagonism? Maybe I was starting to take it personally. Maybe ‘Japan’ wasn’t the friendly place I was picturing it would be (why did I do this) before heading up here. From Cambodia. Two years there, two years in Viet Nam prior. I mean, maybe my perception was skewed because Japan was “just over there. Easy.”‘ Get ‘Katana’.

It’s been a few days now since I’ve been back from Japan, and have had the time to settle in, review all my notes and photos, and curate the first issue in the Winter series of S P A C E. I didn’t remember how to do it, since the road was so fast and long and there were lots of places you would wake up, only to get going to the next place, the same day, and so on, on repeat, if you’re moving around fast. Which we were by the end of our tour. We were moving daily or two-day-ly. Get ‘Wherever you go, there you are.’
NARITA

A few days ago, I was in Narita, the town, staying a night so as not to have to rush like usually to get to the airport in Tokyo at a weirdly early hour, while also seeing the tiny town that had caught my heart when I was coming home from my year abroad in college and being charmed by the tourist-oriented miniature sets of things to get and the people who were curiously watching as you watched. I bought a fuurin back then, from a lady who talked to me about summer festivals. Get S P A C E.
「他者」との対話が、「１人称で語られるストーリー」にどのように影響するのか、をテーマの一つとしてDipika Kohliが7年に渡って発行してきたZineである「S P A C E」をAtelier S P A C Eとして発展させ、自己啓発や他者との関わり方に関するワークショップに参加しながらの創作活動、そしてそのプロセスをZineとして随時公開していくことで、「S P A C Eは」という単純ながら答えのない問いかけをしていくのが本企画の趣旨である。 さらに、本企画を通じて、対話から創作、そしてそこからまた対話を、というループを起こし、日常の瑣末な気づきを表現に昇華させるという芸術活動は、個人の日常生活の中でこそ起こりうるというサスティナビリティをも提唱していく。
建築とジャーナリズムをバックグラウンドにもつ作家。アイルランドとシアトルでリポーター、編集の経験を積んだのちに、自身のメディアであるS P A C E を2017７年に創立。「The San Francisco Zine Festival」、「The Festival of the Photocopier」（メルボルン）や 「Oulu Arts Festival」に出展する。TEDxスピーカーであり、アートの個展や国際交流機関の助成を受けた実績もある。デザイン・カンパニー主宰。
